The fire broke out at around 1.15am on Saturday (7 November) in the Janna Fakirbari area of Fukurhati Union, along the Saturia-Golra paved road.
The bus, bearing registration number Dhaka Metro-Ba-14-1651, was used to transport workers to and from Tarasima Apparels Limited, a garment factory. Although the vehicle sustained extensive damage, no injuries or deaths were reported.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. It has also not yet been established whether anyone was involved in the incident or whether the blaze was accidental.
Fire service personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and managed to bring the flames under control.
Mujibur Rahman, warehouse inspector at the Saturia Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, said firefighters reached the location promptly after being alerted.
He confirmed that most of the bus had been gutted by the fire, adding that no casualties had occurred.
The incident has raised questions about how the fire started, particularly as the vehicle was used for transporting garment workers. However, there is currently no confirmed information suggesting deliberate sabotage or any other form of foul play.
Saturia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain told the media that the incident would be investigated and appropriate legal action would be taken based on the findings.
The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire and determine whether any negligence or external involvement contributed to the damage.
While the extensive destruction of the bus represents a significant loss, the absence of casualties has been a relief. Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the investigation or identify the precise source of the blaze.
