Housewife Found Dead in Plastic Bag in Shahjahanpur

In Malibagh area under Shahjahanpur Police Station in the capital, the body of a housewife named Suravi Akter Mahfuza (21) was recovered from the ground floor of a house, wrapped in a plastic bag. Her hands and face were bound. Suravi worked as a garment factory worker. Following the incident, her husband Mohammad Ashiq is currently absconding.

Sub-Inspector Mohsin Talukdar of Shahjahanpur Police Station stated that on Monday night, in a room on the ground floor of house number 393/A in Bakshibagh, Malibagh, the body of a woman was found bound at the hands and feet inside a plastic bag. Speaking with relatives, it is learned that Suravi was killed following a domestic dispute and then placed in the plastic bag. Preliminary assumptions suggest she was suffocated after being fed something. The exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report.

Suravi’s brother, Hriday, said that she had been married to Ashiq six years ago. Ashiq worked as a tailor. The reason for her murder remains unknown. Suravi leaves behind a four-year-old child. Hriday also mentioned that two years ago, Ashiq had assaulted her. At that time, she had indicated she would leave the marriage, but later returned. After that, Suravi had lost contact with the family.

The deceased’s family home is in Joynagar, under Jajira Police Station, Shariatpur. Her father’s name is Nurul Haque Khan.
