BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that if the BNP comes to power through the people’s vote, stopping India’s interference will be their top priority.
He said this on Saturday (15 November) while speaking to reporters after inspecting the rubber dam built over the Mahananda River in Chapainawabganj.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “This time, the issues of the Ganga and Farakka Barrage will receive the most attention. In addition, border killings will also be a priority. The highest priority will be stopping India’s interference.”
Regarding relations with India, he added, “They are our neighbouring country. They can maintain good relations with us if they wish.”
The BNP Secretary General further said, “During the 1971 Liberation War, India had provided assistance. They should support Bangladesh even more. Unfortunately, we have seen the opposite. The Modi government has pressured Bangladesh, taking everything while giving us nothing.”
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is visiting Chapainawabganj to participate in the movement titled ‘Save Padma, Save the Country; Bangladesh First’. This afternoon, he will speak as the chief guest at a public rally held at Nawabganj Government College grounds.
