With this breakthrough, Charani surpassed the long-standing record held by Australian fast bowler Megan Schutt for nearly eight years. Schutt had set the previous landmark in November 2018 when she reached 806 rating points. In the history of women’s T20I cricket, only three bowlers have ever breached the coveted 800-point barrier: Charani, Schutt, and England’s left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who reached a career-best peak of 802 points.

Charani had already become the first Indian woman cricketer to cross the 800-point threshold in T20Is just fortnight ago. Her remarkable ascent reflects exceptional consistency, highlighted by her starring role in India’s gold medal triumph at the Asian Games. During the tournament, she delivered outstanding spells, taking eight wickets across three matches. Her frugal spell of two wickets for just 13 runs against Sri Lanka in the final proved pivotal in securing the gold medal for India.

The updated T20I bowling rankings reflect strong Indian dominance at the top. Fellow Indian spinner and all-rounder Deepti Sharma holds second place with a rating of 754 points, having taken three vital wickets in the Asian Games final. England’s Sophie Ecclestone occupies third position with 723 points.

Indian players made notable gains across other categories as well. Star opener Smriti Mandhana climbed one spot to fifth in the T20I batting rankings following her explosive match-winning knock of 79 runs against Sri Lanka in the final. Australian batter Beth Mooney continues to lead the T20I batting rankings.
