Singer-songwriter Ishaan Mozumder has released a new song, ‘Dhoop’, on YouTube, following the success of ‘Patar Bashori’, his collaboration with Sunidhi Nayak for Coke Studio Bangla. The latest release explores grief, remembrance and the enduring emotional connections people maintain with loved ones they have lost.
‘Patar Bashori’, released in July as part of Coke Studio Bangla, attracted widespread attention and crossed 65 million views on YouTube in less than two months. The song’s success brought Ishaan considerable attention among listeners, raising interest in his subsequent musical projects.
Unlike the earlier release, ‘Dhoop’ takes a more intimate approach, focusing on the personal experience of loss and the memories that continue to shape everyday life. Its central image is sunlight, which serves as a reminder of how ordinary sights and familiar moments can bring back the presence of someone who is no longer there.
The song reflects the complicated relationship between absence and emotional closeness. Although a loved one may no longer be physically present, memories can make that person feel close again through seemingly insignificant details of daily life. Rather than concentrating solely on the pain of separation, ‘Dhoop’ explores how remembrance can preserve a sense of connection.
The track was written, composed and performed by Ishaan. Dippro Ahmed played the piano and handled production, while Ishaan and Dippro worked together on the musical arrangement. Andy contributed the violin, Adri Biswas was responsible for mixing and mastering, and Rohit Das directed the music video.
The combination of piano and violin provides the musical framework for a song built around reflection and emotion. The production credits also highlight the collaborative work behind the release, with Ishaan taking responsibility for its creative foundation and working with Dippro on its musical development.
A Song Three Years in the Making
Speaking about the release, Ishaan revealed that he had recorded ‘Dhoop’ three years ago, originally intending to keep it for his personal listening rather than release it publicly.
The song gradually evolved over time. Ishaan and Dippro spent an extended period working with the track before deciding that it was ready to be shared with a wider audience.
The decision to release a song that began as a private musical expression gives ‘Dhoop’ a distinctive place in Ishaan’s current work. Its subject matter is deeply personal, yet the emotions it addresses—grief, longing and the persistence of memory—are familiar to many listeners.
The gap between its original recording and public release also suggests that the creative process extended beyond the initial performance. According to Ishaan, the song developed as he and Dippro continued to live with it before bringing it to the public.
The release follows the strong reception of ‘Patar Bashori’, but the two songs approach listeners from different emotional perspectives. While the earlier collaboration gained attention through Coke Studio Bangla, ‘Dhoop’ places greater emphasis on an individual experience and the quiet details through which memories endure.
‘Dhoop’ is available on Ishaan’s YouTube channel, ‘Ishaan er Gaan’. With its focus on loss and remembrance, the song offers listeners a reflective musical experience shaped by personal history and the lasting presence of loved ones in everyday life.
