Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Leader Sued for Alleged Rape

A local political official from the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal faces formal criminal charges in Lakshmipur following allegations of sexual assault and armed intimidation brought by a resident housewife. The status of the criminal case was verified on Monday afternoon, 1 June 2026, by Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Hanif of the Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station. The victim formally lodged the First Information Report (FIR) on Sunday night, 31 May 2026.

Pattern of Harassment and Intimidation

The accused has been identified as Al Amin Chayal, an executive member of the Char Ramani Mohan Union unit of the Jubo Dal. He is the son of Abu Chayal, residing in Uttar Char Ramani village within Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.

According to the official case text, the complainant’s husband is an expatriate worker employed abroad. The prosecution states that the suspect systematically targeted the housewife with inappropriate advances during her spouse’s absence. When she continuously refused his propositions, the suspect engaged in retaliatory harassment, repeatedly throwing bricks and stones onto her corrugated tin roof to cause distress.

The escalating hostility forced the victim to leave her home nine months ago to reside at her father’s house. She returned to her marital residence during the recent month of Ramadan, after which the suspect allegedly renewed his unsolicited advances, which she again rejected.

Circumstances of the Assault and Threat

The harassment culminated in a physical assault on the night of Thursday, 28 May 2026. The FIR documents that when the victim stepped outside her house during the night to use the outdoor facilities, Al Amin Chayal, who was hiding on the property, ambushed her from behind.

The suspect allegedly muffled her screams, forced her into a nearby betel nut plantation, and assaulted her while holding a knife to her throat.

Case Investigation Profile

The complainant further stated that before leaving the scene, the suspect threatened to murder her only son if she disclosed the assault to her family or initiated legal action with law enforcement.

Status of Public Appeal and Police Search

The victim’s brother issued a public statement on behalf of the family, demanding a thorough judicial trial and the implementation of the highest statutory penalties available under the law. Journalists attempted to contact Al Amin Chayal via his mobile phone to obtain his statement regarding the active criminal case; however, multiple calls went completely unanswered.

Sub-Inspector Abu Hanif confirmed that the police department is treating the case as an active criminal investigation. He stated that the suspect has fled the area to evade arrest, and law enforcement teams are currently executing targeted tracking operations to apprehend the fugitive.
