KKR Drop a Bombshell! Legendary Kiwi Pacer Tim Southee Returns—This Time as Bowling Coach!

As preparations intensify for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have begun reshaping their coaching structure. Ahead of the mini-auction, the franchise has officially announced a major addition to their support staff—former New Zealand pace legend Tim Southee has been appointed as the new bowling coach.

Southee, who previously represented KKR as a player, is no stranger to the Kolkata camp. His experience within the IPL environment and familiarity with the franchise culture are seen as significant advantages. With former bowling coach Bharat Arun moving to Lucknow Super Giants, KKR had been seeking a high-profile replacement, and Southee fit the bill perfectly.

Across a distinguished 15-year international career, Southee played 107 Tests, 161 ODIs and 126 T20Is for New Zealand, taking a total of 776 wickets. His vast knowledge of seam and swing bowling is expected to bring immense value to KKR’s bowling unit, especially as the franchise aims to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season. Southee also has IPL experience with several teams, including Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
