Madrasa Director Arrested in Netrokona Following Alleged Child Sexual Assault

A madrasa director has been taken into police custody in Netrokona’s Purbadhala upazila following allegations of sexually assaulting a minor inside his residential room. The accused, 50-year-old Abdullah Al Mamun Dulal, was apprehended on Sunday night after local residents intervened and notified law enforcement authorities.

According to the written complaint lodged by the victim’s father, the young boy works at a pharmacy owned by the suspect. On the night of the incident, the child returned home after finishing his daily duties at the dispensary and went to sleep. At approximately 9:30 pm, Dulal allegedly summoned the child to his personal bedroom, where the assault took place.

The gravity of the abuse came to light shortly afterwards when the child became physically ill and disclosed the ordeal to his family members. As news of the incident spread across the neighbourhood, indignant local residents detained the suspect and alerted the authorities, ensuring he could not evade justice.

Officers from Purbadhala Police Station alongside officials from the upazila administration promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the matter. The suspect was formally arrested, while the victim was immediately transported to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for urgent medical treatment and necessary forensic examinations.

Confirming the arrest, the Officer-in-Charge of Purbadhala Police Station, Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, stated that primary legal proceedings against the accused have commenced. Shafiqul Islam, reassured the public that the local administration is treating the incident with utmost priority and will provide comprehensive support to ensure swift legal justice.

Incidents of this nature underscore the critical necessity for stringent safeguarding protocols, thorough background checks for institutional caretakers, and robust monitoring mechanisms. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining zero tolerance towards offences against children, promising a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations.
