A Islamic religious teacher in the Noakhali Sadar sub-district has been handed over to law enforcement authorities after being beaten by a mob over the alleged sexual assault of a nine-year-old student. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Maulana Mobarak Hossain Emran, was detained by local residents in the Ashwadia Union on Monday evening following shocking revelations regarding the minor’s physical health.
According to family members and local police officials, the victim had shown signs of emotional distress and academic neglect over recent months, which had initially drawn reprimands from her parents. However, a noticeable shift in her physical health prompted her family to seek medical advice at a private healthcare facility. During the medical assessment, the young girl disclosed that the instructor had repeatedly subjected her to abuse over a period of five to six months during private tuition sessions held at his residence.

Outraged locals confronted the instructor, delivering a mob beating before intercepting officers from the Sudharam Police Station arrived at the scene. Law enforcement swiftly dispersed the gathering, took the suspect into custody, and arranged for immediate medical intervention. Hospital sources confirmed that the accused was admitted to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital later that evening to receive treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
