A head-on collision between a pickup van and a microbus in Manikganj has left two people injured, prompting a brief disruption on one of the region’s key highways before traffic was later restored to normal flow.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon (2 June) in front of the Rahman CNG Station under Manikganj Sadar Upazila along the busy Dhaka–Aricha Highway. According to local sources, the crash took place when a pickup vehicle and a microbus travelling in opposite directions collided head-on at considerable speed.
Eyewitnesses reported that the impact of the collision was severe, causing extensive damage to the front sections of both vehicles. The force of the crash left both vehicles crumpled at the point of impact, highlighting the intensity of the accident on this heavily trafficked route.
At least two individuals sustained injuries in the collision. Local residents quickly rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and assisted in rescue efforts before emergency responders arrived. A team from the fire service subsequently reached the location and carried out a coordinated rescue operation. The injured were transported to Manikganj Sadar Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Hospital authorities have confirmed that both victims are under observation. While their conditions have not been described as critical, they remain under close medical supervision following the traumatic impact of the crash.
Traffic movement on the Dhaka–Aricha Highway was temporarily slowed after the incident, as bystanders and rescue operations briefly obstructed the flow of vehicles. However, the situation was gradually brought under control, and normal traffic conditions were restored shortly afterwards.
