Motorcyclist Killed in Kachua Crash

A motorcyclist was killed and another person seriously injured following a violent three-vehicle collision on the Kachua–Hajiganj–Gouripur regional road in Chandpur district, authorities have confirmed.

The fatal accident occurred at around 2:00 pm on Tuesday (28 April) near a bridge adjacent to the Dumuria area of Kachua upazila. The incident involved a motorcycle, a microbus, and a pickup van, all of which were reportedly travelling at speed at the time of the crash.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim Hossain Sagar (27), son of Sofiqul Islam of Shashangacha (Araiyura) village under Kotwali police station in Cumilla district. He also had family ties to the Koraiya Gazi Bari area in Kachua municipality through his maternal relatives. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly working as a supervisor on a transport vehicle known as “Surma”.

The injured person, Shahadat Hossain (29), son of Mizanur Rahman of Kalagazi Pradhania Bari in Koraish village of Kachua upazila, sustained serious injuries. He was immediately rescued by local residents and taken to Kachua Upazila Health Complex, where he is currently receiving treatment.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the microbus had departed from Hajiganj, while the pickup van was also moving towards Kachua at high speed. Both vehicles were reportedly attempting to overtake each other near the bridge area in Dumuria when they lost control and collided with the oncoming motorcycle. The impact proved fatal for the motorcyclist, who died at the scene.

Following the accident, locals rushed to the site and assisted in rescuing the injured passenger before arranging his transfer to hospital. Police from Kachua Police Station arrived shortly afterwards, recovered the body of the deceased, and secured the accident scene.

The police have confirmed that both the microbus and pickup van involved in the crash have been seized for investigation. The body of the deceased has been taken into police custody for legal formalities, and further proceedings are underway.

Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station, Md Azizul Islam, confirmed the seizure of the vehicles and stated that necessary legal action is being processed in connection with the incident.
