Mohammad Nahid Islam has resigned from his position as Information Adviser to the interim government, fueling speculation about his involvement in a new political party set to launch later this week.
According to official sources, Nahid Islam submitted his resignation letter to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus today. His departure comes as the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagarik Committee prepare to announce the formation of their new party on February 28 in Dhaka.
Nahid, a former Dhaka University student and coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, played a key role in the mass protests that led to the fall of the Hasina government on August 5. He was appointed an adviser to the interim government on August 9.
