NCC Bank has organised a mental health awareness workshop for its female employees at its Head Office under the title “Mind Matters: Workplace Mental Health Talk for Women”, according to a press release. The programme was introduced as part of the bank’s efforts to support a healthy, inclusive and employee-focused workplace environment.
The session was conducted by Dr Nasim Jahan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at BIRDEM General Hospital and Ibrahim Medical College. In her presentation, she focused on workplace mental health issues, particularly stress management, emotional resilience, and maintaining a balanced work-life structure. She also discussed how psychological wellbeing can be influenced by professional responsibilities and organisational pressures, and outlined general approaches to managing these challenges.
As part of the session, participants were introduced to internationally used mental health assessment instruments, including the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ). These tools are designed to help identify symptoms associated with stress, anxiety and depression and are commonly used in both clinical and awareness settings to support early understanding of mental health conditions.
The workshop was moderated by Nighat Mumtaz, Executive Vice President and Head of Sustainable and Women’s Banking at NCC Bank. She highlighted the importance of integrating mental health awareness into workplace culture, particularly in the context of evolving professional demands and the need for employee wellbeing support systems.
A total of 142 female officials participated in the workshop physically at the Head Office. In addition, women employees from branches across the country joined the session virtually through digital platforms, ensuring wider organisational participation beyond the central office.
The participants acknowledged the initiative as relevant to current workplace realities, particularly in relation to stress management and mental wellbeing awareness. The programme was viewed as an informative platform for understanding common mental health challenges and available assessment approaches.
