A nine-hour power outage has been scheduled for various areas in Dhamrai, Dhaka, on Monday (18 May) due to essential maintenance. The suspension of the electricity supply is required to facilitate the replacement of cables on a 33 kV transmission line alongside urgent maintenance works. The outage will affect consumers connected to the Bhararia 33 kV (ACME) substation and feeders 1, 3, 8, 9, and 10 of the Dhamrai substation.
The information was officially confirmed on Sunday (17 May) afternoon via a formal notice issued by Lipia Khatun, the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of the Dhamrai Zonal Office under the Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-3. According to the issued notice, the power supply will remain suspended from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.
The planned shutdown is part of infrastructure upgrade works aimed at improving the local distribution network. The technical details regarding the scheduled power outage are outlined in the table below:
| Technical Parameters | Details of the Outage |
| Date and Day | 18 May, Monday |
| Duration | 9 hours (From 8:00 am to 5:00 pm) |
| Scope of Work | Replacement of 33 kV line cables and urgent infrastructure maintenance |

According to sources at the Dhamrai Zonal Office, the maintenance work necessitates a complete shutdown of several feeders. This will result in a temporary blackout across the entire jurisdiction of the Bhararia 33 kV (ACME) substation. Furthermore, all residential, commercial, and administrative areas falling under Dhamrai feeders 1, 3, 8, 9, and 10 will face power disruptions.
The specific localities and key facilities that will remain without electricity include:
Residential Areas and Villages: Chhotto Chandrail, Borochandrail, Khatra, Chhoybaria, Barigaon, Bashail, Kulla, Jalsin, Taltala, Islampur, Kumrail, New Dakshinpara, Boratnagar, and the Dhanshiri Residential Area.
Commercial Zones and Hubs: Borat Centre and Dhulivita.
Essential Services and Public Complexes: Hospital Road, Dhamrai Thana Complex, Upazila Health Complex, and Amin Model Town.
Given the inclusion of critical facilities such as the Upazila Health Complex, Hospital Road, and the Thana Complex, emergency services within these sectors may need to rely on alternative power generation methods during the nine-hour window. The Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-3 authority has expressed its sincere regrets to its consumers for the temporary inconvenience caused by this essential infrastructural work and assured that power supply will be restored promptly upon completion of the maintenance.
