The bodies of a recently married couple have been recovered by the police from their bedroom in the Gaopara Dhalan area of Natore Sadar upazila. The deceased have been identified as the husband, Rahul Rahat, and his wife, Liza Khatun. The emergency recovery operation was conducted on Friday afternoon, 19 June 2026, after which the law enforcement personnel transferred both bodies to the Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for formal post-mortem examinations.
According to official police reports and statements provided by local residents, the couple had consumed their afternoon meal together at their residence earlier that day. Following lunch, Rahul Rahat and Liza Khatun retired to their private bedroom to sleep.
At approximately 4:00 pm, family members attempted to call the couple from outside the room. After repeatedly knocking and shouting without receiving any response or vocal acknowledgement from inside, the relatives grew concerned and forced entry by breaking open the locked bedroom door.
Upon entering the room, the family members discovered the bodies of the husband and wife hanging from the wooden structural beam of the ceiling, with scarves wrapped securely around their necks. The family immediately alerted the local police department regarding the situation.
Inquiries conducted within the local community revealed that Rahul Rahat and Liza Khatun had a romantic relationship prior to their marriage. The couple had solemnised their union approximately one month before the incident took place, choosing to marry for love.
Following the arrival of the police unit at the scene, forensic evidence was collected from the bedroom, and the hanging bodies were officially lowered. The local authorities arranged for the immediate transfer of the deceased to the district hospital morgue to facilitate further clinical analysis.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Natore Sadar Police Station, Mansur Rahman, issued an official statement regarding the preliminary findings of the ongoing inquiry. While the initial circumstantial evidence points towards a case of double suicide, the police department has launched a comprehensive investigation to explore all potential underlying factors.
| Investigation Detail | Current Status and Procedural Step |
| Primary Classification | Assumed to be suicide based on initial scene observation. |
| Investigative Scope | Examining potential domestic disputes and other external variables. |
| Medical Evidence | Awaiting the definitive post-mortem report from the hospital morgue. |
| Legal Outcome | Final determination of the cause of death depends on the autopsy results. |
The police administration has emphasised that a definitive conclusion regarding the precise nature and cause of the deaths will only be established once the official medical autopsy reports are compiled and handed over by the medical examiners at Natore Sadar Hospital. Investigating officers are actively interviewing family members and neighbours to ascertain if any severe domestic friction existed within the newly formed household.
