Renowned Bangladeshi composer and music director Rohan Raj has formally lodged a criminal case following an incident involving alleged fraud and the forceful seizure of his private vehicle. The incident, which escalated into a physical confrontation and temporary abduction, has led to the recovery of the vehicle by law enforcement officials, who currently hold it in judicial custody pending further investigation.

According to the official complaint, the dispute originated from a commercial vehicle transaction. On 23 December 2024, Rohan Raj purchased a Toyota Corolla-X (Registration Number: DM-GA-25-6775) from a vehicle showroom located in the Uttara area of Dhaka. The transaction was reportedly completed through a full cash payment.

Following the settlement of the purchase price, the showroom management and the previous owners requested a grace period to facilitate the formal transfer of ownership and administrative paperwork. However, Raj alleges that despite the passage of a significant amount of time, the authorities failed to initiate the name-transfer process. Subsequently, all communication channels with the showroom representatives were severed, leading to suspicions of a pre-planned fraudulent scheme.

The Incident of Forceful Seizure

The situation reached a critical point on 26 April, when the music director was travelling near the Mirpur Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) area. According to Raj’s statement, an organized group consisting of 10 to 15 unidentified individuals intercepted his vehicle. The group used force to commandeer the car and briefly detained Raj against his will.

Through the swift intervention of the Pallabi Police Station, the music director was eventually rescued. While the perpetrators managed to flee initially, the vehicle was successfully recovered by the police and remains impounded at the station as evidence.

Rohan Raj has confirmed the initiation of legal action to seek redress for the harassment and financial loss incurred. The case has been officially recorded under filing number CR-427/26.
