Popular Life Distributes Tk 92.1m in Insurance Claims

Popular Life Insurance PLC has distributed insurance claim cheques worth Tk 92.1 million to policyholders in Chandpur and Narayanganj, highlighting its stated commitment to meeting customer obligations and settling claims.

Of the total amount, Tk 50.2 million was allocated to policyholders in Chandpur, while customers in Narayanganj received cheques worth Tk 41.9 million. The payments were made at two separate events organised by the company in the districts.

The Chandpur programme took place on Sunday, 11 October, at the Chandpur Press Club Community Centre. Two days earlier, on Friday, 9 October, the company handed over insurance claim cheques to customers in Narayanganj at the seminar room of its own office in the district.

B M Yusuf Ali, managing director and chief executive officer of Popular Life Insurance PLC, attended both events as the chief guest. Other senior officials present included Additional Managing Director B M Shawkat Ali, Senior Deputy Managing Director Syed Motahar Hossain, Deputy Managing Director Md Khalilur Rahman Sikder and SED Mohammad Selim Mia.

At the Chandpur event, the special guests included Deputy Managing Director Md Kamal Hossain Mohsin and Executive Directors Md Mahbubur Rahman and Md Billal Hossain. The programme was chaired by Md Delwar Hossain, the company’s project in-charge.

In Narayanganj, Executive Director Sajjad Mahmud Kishore attended as a special guest, while Executive Director Md Mahbubur Rahman chaired the event.

Speaking at both programmes, Yusuf Ali stressed the importance of insurance in providing financial protection against uncertainty. He said insurance played a significant role in helping individuals and families prepare for potential financial risks and cope with unexpected circumstances.

He also said the company was working to ensure transparency, accountability and timely settlement of policyholders’ claims. According to him, meeting customers’ legitimate claims is a fundamental responsibility of an insurance provider and an important factor in maintaining confidence in the sector.

Addressing the Narayanganj event, Yusuf Ali described the distribution of claim cheques as a reflection of the company’s responsibility towards its policyholders. Customers take out insurance policies with the expectation of receiving financial support when they become eligible for benefits under the agreed terms, he said.

The settlement of claims is a key part of the relationship between an insurer and its customers. Clear procedures, accountability and timely payments can help policyholders understand their entitlements and strengthen confidence in the insurance system. For families facing unexpected financial pressures, insurance benefits may also provide support in meeting essential expenses, depending on the terms of their policies.

The distribution of Tk 92.1 million in Chandpur and Narayanganj represents the company’s reported claim-payment activity in the two districts. However, the announcement did not specify the number of policyholders who received the cheques, the types of policies involved or the time taken to process the claims.

The events brought together senior company representatives and provided an opportunity for management to reiterate its position on customer service and the fulfilment of policy commitments. The company’s emphasis on transparency and timely settlement also underlined the importance of dependable claims handling in sustaining public trust in insurance services.
