Popular Life Insurance PLC, a publicly listed insurer in Bangladesh, has formally distributed maturity claim cheques totalling 96.757 million Taka to policyholders in the Chattogram region.
The cheque handover ceremony and a business review conference for regional development officers took place on Saturday at the Institution of Engineers auditorium in Chattogram. The event brought together senior corporate executives, project directors, and local field officers to review business performance and reinforce customer service commitments.
Mohammad Zahirul Islam Chowdhury, Chairman of Popular Life Insurance PLC, attended the function as the chief guest and officially presented the claim cheques to policyholders whose insurance policies had matured. Addressing the gathering, he stressed that safeguarding policyholders’ financial interests remains the company’s foremost priority. Prompt settlement of maturity claims is essential for building public confidence and maintaining trust across the insurance sector. He affirmed that Popular Life Insurance will continue upgrading its service delivery mechanisms to drive growth in the national insurance market.
The session was chaired by BM Yousuf Ali, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Popular Life Insurance PLC, who also serves as President of the Bangladesh Insurance Forum and Executive Member of the Bangladesh Insurance Association. In his presidential address, he noted that meeting financial obligations to clients on time is a core responsibility that defines a credible insurer. The company has disbursed substantial sums in claim settlements over the years, establishing a solid reputation for reliability. He urged development officers to work with integrity, dedication, and professionalism to further expand the firm’s market presence while maintaining hassle-free customer support.
Several key corporate figures delivered speeches as special guests, including Sponsor Director and former Chairman Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, Director Mohammad Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Additional Managing Director BM Showkat Ali, and Senior Deputy Managing Director (Branch Control) Syed Motahar Hossain.
Sub-project leadership was also heavily represented at the event. Deputy Managing Director of the Islami DPS Project Khalilur Rahman Dulal, Senior Executive Director of the Al Amin Insurance Project Salim Miah, and Senior Executive Director of the Islami Bima Takaful Project Sajjad Mahmud Kishore shared operational perspectives on regional growth strategies.
The conference was jointly moderated by Shamsuzzaman Salim, Senior General Manager and Project Director of the Al Amin Insurance Project, and Arun Chandra, Project In-Charge of the Single Bima Project. Following the discussions, the chief guest and the CEO handed over the claim cheques directly to policyholders, who expressed satisfaction at receiving their funds without administrative delays.
