The victim was identified as 46-year-old Shafiqul Azim, also known as Sumon. He worked as an assistant teacher at the Uttar Kutubpur Government Primary School in Begumganj upazila. Hailing from Ghatla village under Kadirpur Union, he was the son of Master Abul Khair.

The fatal crash took place around 4:15 pm near Haji Shafi Manzil, adjacent to Zainal Abedin School and College. According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Shafiqul Azim was riding his motorcycle from the Chowmuhani Municipality intersection towards the district town of Maijdee. As he approached the college area, a fast-moving, unidentified vehicle rammed into his motorcycle from behind.

The violent collision threw him off his vehicle onto the tarmac, causing severe traumatic injuries to his head and body. The offending driver sped away from the scene immediately after the crash.

Bystanders rushed to the spot, rescued the injured teacher, and transported him to the 250-Bed General Hospital in Noakhali. Attending doctors at the emergency department pronounced him dead upon arrival due to critical injuries and internal haemorrhaging.

Begumganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Shamsuzzaman confirmed the fatality, stating that officers were dispatched to the location promptly after receiving news of the collision. Police personnel have launched an inquiry to trace the unidentified vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run, examining nearby surveillance footage along the highway. Formal legal proceedings and post-mortem arrangements remain under way as investigators gather further details from the scene.
