A tragic road accident in Ullapara, Sirajganj, claimed the life of a primary school teacher on Sunday morning. The victim, Mosharraf Hossain, worked as an assistant teacher at Suja Government Primary School and resided in Kaliakoir village, where his father, Saiful Master, is also known as a local educator.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:00 AM along the Shyamlipara-Mohonpur Road in the Paschimpara area. According to local reports, Mr Hossain was travelling on his personal motorcycle when a sand-laden heavy truck struck his vehicle from behind. The impact proved fatal, resulting in his immediate death at the scene before emergency assistance could arrive.
Local authorities responded swiftly to the incident. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mehedi Hasan of Ullapara Model Police Station confirmed the details of the tragedy. Police personnel recovered the victim’s body from the site and transported it to the police station. The damaged motorcycle has also been impounded.
While law enforcement officers successfully seized the sand-laden truck involved in the collision, the driver managed to flee the scene before officers arrived. Police have initiated efforts to trace the whereabouts of the fugitive driver. Authorities are currently coordinating with the grieving family to complete necessary legal procedures and hand over the body for final funeral rites.
This tragic incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding heavy vehicle movement and road safety on rural and regional routes across the region. Local residents have repeatedly voiced worries about speeding sand-laden lorries operating on narrower connecting roads during morning hours, when commuters and teachers travel to their workplaces.
