Producer on Shakib’s Fee for Prince: “It Is His Rightful Due”

A new film is set to hit Dhallywood, revisiting the underworld of Dhaka city in the 1990s. Titled “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka”, the project casts none other than megastar Shakib Khan in the central role. Directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud, the narrative promises to combine crime, romance, action and deep emotion.

The recently unveiled first-look poster of the film has already created a storm among cinema enthusiasts, sparking both excitement and debate across social media.

While anticipation for the storyline grows, public attention has shifted towards Shakib Khan’s remuneration for the project. Speculation online suggests that the superstar is set to receive 30 million Bangladeshi Taka (£225,000 approx.) for his role in the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr release.

Critics argue that such a figure is disproportionately high compared with the overall budget of the film. Yet, according to the film’s producer and chairperson of Creative Land, Shirin Sultana, the payment is entirely justified.

She explained to the press: “It is his right. What he deserves must be given to him. Naturally, his remuneration now is higher than in his previous films.”

She further added: “Given the scale on which we are planning to make this film, the amount he is being paid is absolutely reasonable.”

Another area still under speculation is the casting of the female lead. Shirin Sultana hinted that the team is considering options beyond Bangladesh’s borders.

“Whether from home or abroad, we will select the actress who best fits our story and characters. Discussions are progressing with several candidates, and a foreign actress is also a possibility.”
