A landmark cultural celebration is set to take place in Dhaka this evening as the capital marks Bangladesh’s Independence and National Day on 26 March with a grand open-air programme at Manik Mia Avenue. The event, scheduled to commence at 7:30 pm, will bring together music lovers, families, and dignitaries for an evening dedicated to national pride, artistic expression, and patriotic reflection.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the programme has been carefully curated to highlight both the country’s rich musical heritage and its contemporary cultural vibrancy. The evening will open with a performance by the Armed Forces Orchestra, presenting a selection of patriotic and instrumental compositions designed to set a ceremonial and celebratory tone.
The highlight of the night will be a live performance by the acclaimed rock band Warfaze, one of the most influential names in Bangladesh’s rock music scene. The band’s appearance is expected to draw a large audience, as fans gather to experience a powerful fusion of classic rock energy and national celebration.
The programme is open to the public, allowing citizens from all walks of life to participate freely in the festivities. Organisers have emphasised that the event aims to strengthen communal spirit and offer a shared cultural space where history and contemporary artistry intersect.
In recent recognition of their contribution to the nation’s music landscape, Warfaze made history as the first band in Bangladesh to be awarded the Ekushey Padak, the country’s second-highest civilian honour. This milestone has further solidified their status as pioneers in the evolution of Bangladeshi rock music.
The venue, Manik Mia Avenue, is traditionally regarded as one of the most significant public gathering spaces for national events and political-cultural celebrations. Its expansive layout makes it particularly suitable for large-scale performances and public participation.
The organising authority, the Inter-Services Public Relations, has coordinated arrangements to ensure smooth execution of the programme, including stage setup, security management, and audience facilitation.
