Rajshahi University Approves Annual Budget of Taka 564.34 Crore for 2025-2026 Financial Year

RAJSHAHI, 4 July 2025 (BSS): Rajshahi University (RU) has approved its annual budget of approximately Taka 564.34 crore for the 2025-2026 financial year, allocating Taka 15.03 crore specifically for research activities.

The largest share of the budget, amounting to Taka 422.97 crore — equivalent to 76.5 per cent of the total expenditure — has been earmarked for salaries, allowances, and pensions.

Prof Akhter Hossain Mazumder, Administrator of RU’s Public Relations Office, confirmed that the budget was sanctioned during the recent meeting of the Syndicate, the university’s highest policy-making authority.

Prof Mazumder highlighted that the new budget places significant emphasis on upgrading instruments and equipment in laboratories to enhance the students’ learning experience. Additionally, special allocations have been made for certain academic fields.

The budget also prioritises sports development, and includes provisions for internships as well as increased scholarships for meritorious students.

Infrastructure improvements feature prominently, with funds allocated for the installation of water treatment plants at various locations on campus, the repair of seven roads, and the procurement of two new buses for students.
