National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman Prof. AKM Reazul Hassan has refuted allegations linking writer and researcher Rakhal Raha to the procurement of paper for printing textbooks.

Raha, a member of this year’s textbook revision committee, had no involvement in the financial or logistical aspects of the process, he added.

Speaking at a press conference at the NCTB office in Dhaka’s Motijheel today, Hassan dismissed claims of a Tk 400 crore commission-based trade in textbook paper procurement, labeling them as “propaganda.”

“The total cost of paper procurement was Tk 100 crore. How can there be a Tk 400 crore trade in this?” he questioned, challenging the accuracy of recent media reports.

Hassan emphasized that paper procurement, printing, and tender processes were handled strictly according to regulations by designated NCTB officials. He reiterated that while Raha contributed to the textbook revision process, he had no role in procurement or financial dealings.
