Rangpur Riders Drop a Bombshell: Two Foreign Stars Locked In Before BPL Auction!

Published: 30 Nov 2025, 12:59 pm

The Rangpur Riders have once again demonstrated why they remain one of the most tactically astute franchises in the Bangladesh Premier League, announcing the completion of direct contracts with two foreign players ahead of the highly anticipated BPL auction. With the competition set to intensify in the coming weeks, the Riders have wasted no time reinforcing their squad with timely, eye-catching signings that signal their hunger for another title push.

According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Rangpur have secured the services of Khawaja Nafe and Sufiyan Mukim as their two pre-auction overseas recruits. Nafe, who featured prominently for Chattogram Kings in the previous edition of the BPL, brings valuable experience of local conditions and a proven record in high-pressure games. His ability to shift gears rapidly and manage middle-order situations has been highly regarded by analysts. Meanwhile, Mukim—yet to make his BPL debut—enters as an exciting fresh pick. Although new to the league, he has earned recognition in other franchise tournaments for his versatility and strong temperament.

This foresight in recruitment is nothing new for Rangpur Riders. Over the years, the franchise has consistently built well-structured teams aimed squarely at contending for titles. Their management has stressed the importance of balancing experienced local players with carefully chosen international talent.

One local figure who remains central to Rangpur’s strategic plans is wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan. His consistency, leadership qualities and deep attachment to the franchise make him an invaluable asset. Sohan has represented Rangpur over several seasons and even captained the side, guiding them to a strong campaign in the Global Super League, where they emerged champions. His calm presence behind the stumps and smart batting under pressure provide a crucial backbone to the squad’s dynamics.

Rangpur have also completed what many fans are calling one of the biggest steals in the pre-auction window by securing star pacer Mustafizur Rahman. Widely regarded as one of the finest cutters and death-over specialists in world cricket, Mustafizur played for Dhaka Capitals last season but will now don the Rangpur Riders jersey. His inclusion immediately boosts the team’s bowling strength and offers Rangpur a lethal edge in tight finishes.

With these signings, Rangpur Riders hold the attention of fans and analysts alike as they enter the crucial phase of team building ahead of the BPL auction. The auction, initially scheduled for 3 PM on 30 November, has been shifted to 4 PM following a late decision from the organisers. Teams are expected to engage in fierce bidding wars to finalise their squads.

The Riders, however, already appear one step ahead of their rivals. Their early moves suggest a well-planned strategy aimed at assembling a perfectly balanced squad capable of challenging for the trophy. The mix of proven performers, fresh international faces and dependable local stars gives Rangpur a strong foundation as they prepare for yet another attempt to dominate Bangladesh’s most glamorous T20 league.
