Pérez seems to be eyeing a repeat of the Lopetegui situation. He has spoken with Scaloni himself to gauge the possibilities before making a final decision.”

In 2018, Pérez caused a significant controversy by announcing Julen Lopetegui as Real Madrid’s next manager just days before the World Cup began. This led to Lopetegui’s immediate dismissal from the Spanish national team.
