Reports of Chittagong Board HSC Exams Resuming July 27 Dismissed as Rumour

Official reports circulating on social media claiming that the suspended 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Chittagong Education Board will resume on 27 July are entirely fake and fabricated, according to the Inter-Education Board Examination Controller Committee. Educational authorities confirmed on Tuesday that no decision has been taken regarding the immediate resumption of the examinations.

The Inter-Education Board Examination Controller Committee issued an urgent public notice on Tuesday, 21 July, signed by its convener and Dhaka Education Board Controller of Examinations, Professor Ma Banu, addressing the misleading circulars online.

The official statement clarified that a fraudulent notice carrying the committee’s name had been circulated on various digital platforms, falsely asserting that Chittagong Board examinations would proceed from 27 July as per a revised timetable. Officials affirmed that neither the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chittagong, nor the central examination controller committee has issued such instructions. Candidates, parents, and the public have been advised that official notices regarding examination schedules are released exclusively via the Ministry of Education, the Inter-Education Board Examination Controller Committee, and the verified websites and social media pages of the respective education boards. Authorities urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information.

Earlier on Tuesday, Professor Dr Parvez Sajjad Chowdhury, Controller of Examinations for the Chittagong Education Board, noted that ground conditions had improved significantly following recent severe flooding, creating a viable environment to conduct exams. However, he emphasized that the local board remains dependent on formal approval from the Ministry of Education and the inter-education board committee before issuing any official timetable.

The suspension of the 2026 HSC and equivalent examinations under the Chittagong Education Board was originally enacted on 16 July due to post-flood disruptions across affected districts. The decision took into account severe damage to local infrastructure, transport blockades, and the physical and mental well-being of displaced candidates. Parallel suspensions remain in place for the Alim examinations under the Madrasah Education Board, as well as the HSC (Business Management and Technology), HSC (Vocational), and Diploma in Commerce examinations under the Technical Education Board.

Education officials assured students that a fresh, revised schedule for all postponed examinations will be announced officially once top-level decision-makers grant approval.
