In a glowing tribute to US economic policy, Sergio Gor, Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, has declared Donald Trump to be the single greatest job-creating president in the history of the United States. Highlighting the administration’s drive to attract overseas capital and boost American manufacturing, Gor pointed directly to a multi-billion-dollar aerospace deal with Bangladesh as a testament to this aggressive economic diplomacy.
Gor shared his assessments on Sunday via a statement posted on X, reflecting on recent diplomatic breakthroughs following his official three-day visit to Dhaka on 30 July. In his post, the 39-year-old diplomat praised the president’s relentless effort to spur employment and secure monumental international commercial commitments for American companies.
“Donald Trump is the greatest job-creating president in American history,” Gor wrote. “He works tirelessly to generate high-paying jobs, attract trillions of dollars in investments, and revitalise our economy.”
Connecting these domestic economic goals to recent diplomatic wins in South Asia, Gor emphasized the scale of commercial agreements secured with Bangladesh. He noted that just this week, President Trump and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister reached another extraordinary agreement. Under the arrangement, Bangladesh committed to spending billions of dollars, an amount far exceeding its initial purchase estimates, reaffirming that the president is making both the United States and its global partners great once again.
Gor’s remarks draw renewed attention to a landmark deal finalized in April, when Biman Bangladesh Airlines formally contracted to purchase 14 aircraft from the American aerospace giant Boeing. Valued at $3.7 billion—exceeding 45,000 crore in Bangladeshi taka—the massive procurement represents a major expansion for the national carrier while delivering a significant commercial victory for US manufacturing.
During his diplomatic mission to Dhaka a month ago, Gor met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to discuss bilateral ties, trade expansion, regional cooperation, and investment opportunities. While the official communique from the Prime Minister’s Office at the time focused on broad bilateral issues without detailing aircraft transactions, Gor’s latest statements confirm that aerospace commerce remains a central pillar of Washington’s engagement with Bangladesh.
Gor brings a varied political and commercial background to his dual roles as Special Envoy and US Ambassador to India, a position he has held since August last year. A graduate of George Washington University, he previously served as Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office and worked extensively across both houses of the US Congress and on multiple presidential campaigns. Before joining the White House, he co-founded Winning Team Publishing alongside Donald Trump, establishing himself as a key strategist within the administration’s inner circle.
