Shakib Khan No Longer Owner of Dhaka Team

Published: 01 Dec 2025, 06:34 pm

In the previous BPL season, Dhallywood actor Shakib Khan made headlines by becoming the owner of Dhaka Capitals. Although the team did not achieve major success, his presence in the stands created excitement among fans.

A unique connection had formed between cricket and cinema lovers. There were no complaints regarding transactions with players, either from him or the team. While the team did not secure top results, everything was managed smoothly by King Khan. However, it is now revealed that the ownership of the team is no longer with Shakib Khan.

On Sunday, the BPL player auction was held at Radisson Hotel in Dhaka. This season, six teams are participating: Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Titans, Rangpur Riders, Noakhali Express, Rajshahi Warriors, and Chattogram Royals. This is the first time Noakhali Express has joined the tournament.

Last season, Shakib Khan was present at the auction representing Dhaka Capitals. He had stated that in the future, his team would be stronger, aggressive, and ready to win.

This season, Dhaka Capitals has again contracted with BCB. However, many discussed King Khan's absence and the change in team ownership on Sunday. According to franchise sources, Shakib Khan is no longer involved with the team. Previously, the owner was Remark Harlan; now, Champion Sports owns the team. Shakib has not been associated with the team.

Shakib Khan had been a prominent figure throughout the last BPL. This year, he is absent. Direct comments from him were not available. His company, SK Films, stated that he stepped down from the director role at Remark-Harlan long ago and is no longer involved with the team.

BPL will begin on 26 December, with the final scheduled for 23 January.
