Last Sunday, a shocking incident unfolded at the Los Angeles residence of international pop star Rihanna, when gunfire was directed at her home in Beverly Hills. Although the neighbourhood was thrown into panic, no injuries were reported. Authorities have confirmed that a woman has been arrested in connection with the attack and has been formally charged with attempted murder.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the suspect has been identified as Ivana Liset Ortiz, aged 35, a resident of Orlando, Florida. On 8 March, at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time, Ortiz allegedly approached Rihanna’s home and fired multiple rounds from an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle. Police reported that several bullets penetrated the exterior walls, entering the house, although fortunately no one inside was harmed.
Media outlets confirmed that Rihanna and her children were present at the time of the attack. Authorities have verified that the family remained unharmed and were safely secured during the incident.
Following the shooting, Ortiz fled the scene. Her white Tesla vehicle was later located approximately eight miles away near the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping centre. She was apprehended there without incident. Police also recovered a rifle case at the scene, which is believed to have contained the firearm used in the attack.
