Fatema Tuz Zohra Oyshee is a prominent figure in the contemporary Bangladeshi music industry. Notably, she is a recipient of the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer, an accolade she earned for her vocal contributions to the film Maya: The Lost Mother. Beyond her musical achievements, she is a qualified medical doctor, balancing her clinical responsibilities with a prolific career in folk, pop, and playback singing.
The HGH Convention Centre, the chosen venue for the event, is a well-established facility in Kuala Lumpur known for hosting large-scale cultural gatherings and international exhibitions. Its location is strategic for the expatriate Bangladeshi community residing in Malaysia, which constitutes a significant portion of the country’s foreign workforce and resident population.
Oyshee expressed her enthusiasm regarding this debut performance in the Malaysian capital. She emphasised that the primary objective of the concert is to engage with the Bangladeshi expatriate community through music. Drawing from her previous experiences performing abroad, the artist observed a profound emotional connection between expatriates and their homeland.
According to the singer, performing for overseas audiences provides a unique insight into how much the Bangladeshi diaspora values their national heritage and culture. She noted that these events serve as a bridge for those living far from home, allowing them to reconnect with the melodies and traditions of Bangladesh.
The upcoming concert is expected to feature a selection of her popular hits and folk-inspired tracks, tailored to resonate with the diverse audience expected at the HGH Convention Centre. Final preparations and rehearsals with the “Oyshee Express” team are currently underway to ensure the performance meets international standards.
