A man has been accused of beating his father, Abdus Samad, to death after allegedly failing to obtain money to buy drugs in Sreepur, Gazipur. The incident took place at around 5am on Monday, 26 October, in Saitalia village. The accused, identified as Anwar Hossain, fled the scene and remains at large, according to the available information.
According to local residents, Anwar returned home around midnight on Sunday while allegedly under the influence of drugs. After arriving, he reportedly demanded money from family members to purchase more drugs. The demand led to an argument within the family, during which his father, Abdus Samad, attempted to calm him down.
However, Anwar allegedly became enraged by his father’s intervention and attacked him with a wooden stick. He reportedly struck Samad repeatedly on the head before delivering further blows to his chest, leaving him critically injured.
Family members and local residents subsequently took Samad to hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead. The circumstances surrounding the assault and the sequence of events leading to his death will need to be established through an investigation.
