Sri Lanka Clinch ODI Series Victory Against Bangladesh

Sri Lanka Women secured a decisive seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh Women at the Shaheed Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, claiming the three-match One Day International (ODI) series 2-1. Despite Bangladesh winning the opening fixture, the visitors staged a successful comeback to win the final two matches, marking a successful conclusion to the first-ever bilateral ODI series between the two nations.

Bangladesh Set Competitive Target

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Bangladesh posted a total of 213 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs—their highest score of the series. The innings was anchored by middle-order batter Sobhana Mostary, who scored a resilient 74 off 80 deliveries, including eight boundaries.

The hosts faced early setbacks, losing their first three wickets for just 69 runs. However, a 65-run partnership between Mostary and Captain Nigar Sultana Joty provided stability. Sultana contributed 40 runs from 90 balls. Following the captain’s departure, Ritu Moni added a quick-fire 20 off 16 balls, but the lower order struggled to maintain the momentum. Mostary eventually fell on the final delivery of the innings. Sri Lankan bowlers Kavisha Dilhari and Nimasha Madushani were the pick of the attack, claiming three and two wickets respectively.

Perera Anchors the Chase

Chasing 214, Sri Lanka suffered an early blow when captain and star batter Chamari Athapaththu was dismissed for 10 by Marufa Akter. However, the momentum shifted decisively through a 108-run second-wicket partnership between Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani.

Dulani recorded her second career half-century, scoring 56 off 79 balls before being caught and bowled by Marufa Akter. Hasini Perera continued the onslaught, falling just five runs short of a maiden international century. She was dismissed for 95 by Sobhana Mostary, caught at gully by substitute fielder Rabeya Khan. Despite missing the personal milestone, Perera’s career-best knock ensured Sri Lanka reached the target in 46.3 overs. Harshitha Samarawickrama remained unbeaten on 44 to guide the team home.
