Taka Exchange Rates Against Major Currencies Today

Foreign exchange rates remain an important piece of information for Bangladeshis dealing with international payments, remittances, travel, education expenses and cross-border trade. With more than 10 million Bangladeshis living abroad and a substantial volume of foreign currency entering and leaving the country through legitimate financial channels, daily currency movements can have a direct bearing on household finances and business costs.

On Saturday, 15 August 2026, the quoted exchange rates for several major foreign currencies against the Bangladeshi taka show notable differences in value. The US dollar is listed at Tk122.35, while the euro stands at Tk144.25 and the British pound at Tk166.24.

Among the Gulf currencies, the Kuwaiti dinar records the highest quoted value at Tk400.26 per unit. The Bahraini dinar is priced at Tk325.97, while the Omani rial stands at Tk318. The Saudi riyal is quoted at Tk32.79, the UAE dirham at Tk33.43 and the Qatari riyal at Tk33.77.

For Bangladeshi migrant workers, exchange rates are particularly significant because fluctuations can influence the amount received by families when remittances are converted into taka. The impact can also extend to importers, exporters and companies making payments in foreign currencies, although the actual rate applied to a transaction may differ according to the institution, transaction type and prevailing market conditions.

Exchange rates on 15 August 2026

Foreign currency Quoted rate in Bangladeshi taka
1 Malaysian ringgit Tk30.09
1 Saudi riyal Tk32.79
1 US dollar Tk122.35
1 euro Tk144.25
1 Italian euro Tk144.25
1 British pound Tk166.24
1 Singapore dollar Tk96.25
1 Australian dollar Tk86.90
1 New Zealand dollar Tk72.02
1 Canadian dollar Tk87.94
1 UAE dirham Tk33.43
1 Omani rial Tk318.00
1 Bahraini dinar Tk325.97

1 South African rand Tk7.58
1 Japanese yen Tk0.773

The rates also highlight the wide variation among currencies. A single Kuwaiti dinar, for instance, is worth more than three times the quoted value of a British pound, while one Japanese yen is worth less than one taka. Such differences reflect the individual denominations and market values of currencies and should not, by themselves, be interpreted as a measure of the relative strength of the economies concerned.

Foreign exchange rates can change at any time in response to market conditions, currency demand and supply, international economic developments and movements in the value of the taka. Banks and authorised money-changing institutions may also quote different buying and selling rates.

Anyone planning a sizeable foreign currency transaction should therefore verify the latest applicable rate with the relevant bank or authorised exchange provider before completing the transaction. The figures above are indicative of the stated rates for 15 August 2026 and may not represent the final rate applied to an individual transaction.
