The central bank of Bangladesh has issued its latest foreign currency exchange rates for 6 October 2026, offering crucial clarity for commercial institutions, traders, and international remittance channels.
According to official figures published by Bangladesh Bank, the US dollar (USD) stands at a buying rate of 122.85 taka and a selling rate of 123.00 taka. The currency baseline reflects ongoing monetary measures designed to preserve exchange rate stability and manage liquidity in the domestic forex market.
Among major European currencies, the British pound sterling (GBP) has been positioned at 162.67 taka for buying and 162.90 taka for selling. Concurrently, the euro (EUR) trades within a narrow band of 138.24 taka buying and 138.42 taka selling. Across Asian financial corridors, the Indian rupee (INR) and Japanese yen (JPY) maintain consistent valuations at 1.28 taka and 0.78 taka respectively for both buying and selling operations.
Regional and Asia-Pacific Valuations
The Australian dollar (AUD) is quoted at 85.42 taka buying and 85.57 taka selling. The Singapore dollar (SGD) registers at 95.98 taka for purchase and 96.18 taka for sale, while the Chinese yuan (CNY) stands at 18.32 taka buying and 18.34 taka selling.
Macroeconomic Factors and Forex Policy
The figures arrive at a critical juncture for the country’s macroeconomy. Central bank authorities have maintained a rigorous policy stance, keeping the policy repo rate at 9.50 per cent to anchor inflation while navigating volatile global commodity prices and external trade pressures. Robust foreign remittance inflows over recent months have bolstered balance-of-payments accounts, helping rebuild foreign exchange reserves above $32 billion under the IMF’s BPM6 reporting framework.
Monetary officials emphasize that standardizing market reference rates supports import-export settlement, deters curb-market distortion, and provides essential predictability for commercial banking operations. Financial institutions across the country are instructed to execute official foreign transactions within these authorized central bank thresholds.
