Taylor Swift has partnered with The Chainsmokers to release a fresh remix of The Fate of Ophelia, the lead single from her latest album The Life of a Showgirl. The original track debuted on 3 October, and the newly issued remix adds heavier basslines and electronic dance elements to the song’s dramatic production.
A short preview of The Fate of Ophelia (The Chainsmokers Remix) was shared on the official Taylor Nation Instagram account, alongside the announcement: “The Fate of Ophelia (The Chainsmokers Remix) is wrapping around us like a chain, a crown, a vine. Download it now!”
The Chainsmokers described the collaboration as an honour, commenting: “This is truly an honour — we love you, T.”
The remix follows Taylor’s surprise release of The Fate of Ophelia (Alone in My Tower – Acoustic Version), issued exclusively on iTunes. That stripped-back recording arrives as part of an extraordinary period of commercial success for the singer.
Within 24 hours of release, The Life of a Showgirl sold 2.7 million units in the United States — the highest single-day sales of Taylor’s career and the second-largest opening week tally since Luminate began collecting data in 1991, surpassed only by Adele’s 25.
| Album | First-Day U.S. Sales | Record Note |
|---|---|---|
| The Life of a Showgirl – Taylor Swift | 2.7 million | Highest of Swift’s career; second-largest first week since 1991 |
| 25 – Adele | Higher than 2.7 million | Largest opening week on record |
Swift is also well known for packing her releases with hidden clues and playful references. Speaking to Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2, she explained that these Easter eggs are meant to offer “a little extra layer of entertainment” for fans who enjoy puzzles — though she stressed that listeners can simply enjoy the music without searching for hidden meanings.
She added that eagle-eyed fans recently uncovered one of her favourite secrets: when the titles of all the songs on the new album are lined up centrally, they form the shape of The Eras Tour stage. “I was so pleased when they found that out,” she said. “They are everywhere. Some of them are completely absurd and have no bearing on reality, but that’s part of the fun.”
