Teacher Held Over Alleged Rape of Madrasa Student in Faridpur

Police have detained a madrasa teacher in Faridpur’s Char Bhadrasan over allegations that he raped a 13-year-old student. The detainee has been identified as Mohammad Masud, 27.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday (1 October) in an area along the border between Char Bhadrasan and Sadarpur upazilas.

According to police and local sources, Masud was working as a teacher at the Purba BS Dangi Jamia Islamia Darul Quran Madrasa in Char Bhadrasan. Allegations were raised against him after a 13-year-old student studying at the madrasa was reportedly subjected to rape.

News of the allegation spread through the locality, triggering tension among residents. At one stage, several local people reportedly restrained the teacher and tied him to a tree on the madrasa premises.

Police were informed of the situation and a team from Char Bhadrasan Police Station went to the madrasa. Sub-Inspectors Karim and Golam, along with other members of the police team, detained Masud and took him to the police station.

Masud is the son of Mahbub Goldar of Godagara area in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district. He had been working as a teacher at the madrasa where the alleged incident took place.

Char Bhadrasan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Safar Ali said the location of the incident falls in an area bordering Char Bhadrasan and Sadarpur police jurisdictions. Although the incident occurred in the border area, the madrasa itself falls under the jurisdiction of Sadarpur Police Station.

The officer said that, after completing the initial legal procedures, arrangements were being made to hand Masud over to Sadarpur police. Legal proceedings in connection with the allegation are under way at Sadarpur Police Station.

Police said the allegation would be investigated before further legal action is taken. The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the roles of those involved.

The incident also highlights the sensitivity of allegations involving minors in educational institutions. While local residents reacted after the allegation became known, the subsequent legal process will determine what action should be taken based on the available evidence.

The allegations against the teacher have not yet been established through a judicial process. Police have said that further action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the investigation and applicable law.
