A tragic accident claimed the life of a three-year-old boy in Dohazari Municipality, Chittagong’s Chandanaish Upazila, on Thursday afternoon. The child, identified as Al Amin Uddin Nahian, drowned in a local pond in Ward 7 of the municipality.

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm in Nasir Mohammad Para, a neighbourhood where Nahian’s family resides. Nahian was the son of Mohammad Belal Uddin, a well-known local flower trader. The sudden loss has cast a pall of grief over the community.

During this short interval, the toddler wandered toward a nearby pond. In a tragic turn, he accidentally fell into the water and sank.

Local residents rushed to the scene upon noticing the boy submerged in the pond. After several tense minutes, Nahian was rescued and immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The sudden nature of the incident has left family members and neighbours devastated.
