The Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway has long been a focal point of concern regarding road safety in the region. Spanning vital trade and tourism corridors, the route experiences heavy daily traffic, including long-distance coaches, freight transport, and private commuter vehicles. Local residents and transport observers have repeatedly highlighted the perils associated with high speeds, reckless overtaking, and the mixing of heavy goods vehicles with smaller modes of transport like motorcycles.
This tragic event serves as a sharp reminder of the continuous hazards faced by motorists along major arterial roads across the country. Local authorities routinely advise drivers to exercise heightened caution, particularly along two-lane stretches where rapid freight movement presents significant risks to vulnerable road users.
