According to the US President, these regional partners requested a pause in military operations after the basic parameters of a potential accord were established.
The proposed agreement centres on two paramount Western objectives: the immediate and unhindered reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, and a definitive end to Iran’s nuclear advancement programme. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the Strait of Hormuz represents one of the world’s most critical energy transit bottlenecks. Any prolonged disruption to shipping lanes through the waterway poses severe risks to global oil supplies and economic stability.
