Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has claimed that two political parties, opposed to Bangladesh’s independence and created by the government, are seeking elections under the PR (Proportional Representation) system.
He made these remarks on Tuesday, 19 August, at a discussion session organised to mark the 45th anniversary of the Jatiyatabadi Volunteer Party at the Bangladesh-China Maitri International Conference Centre.

His comments highlight the BNP’s stance that genuine democratic reforms should be implemented through elected representatives, rather than being influenced by parties with anti-independence or regressive agendas.
