Two Arrested With Foreign Pistol After Robbing Truck Driver In Narsingdi

Police in Narsingdi have arrested two young men following a harrowing robbery in the Madhabdi area, where a truck driver was held at gunpoint with a foreign-made pistol. Authorities recovered an illegal firearm, live ammunition, and stolen money during the subsequent operation.

The details of the law enforcement success were formally presented on Tuesday afternoon during a press conference held at Madhabdi Police Station by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Md. Ashikur Rahman Ashik.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM on Monday night along the Panchdona-Ghorashal road in the Naluya area under Madhabdi Police Station. A gang of three muggers intercepted a moving truck, pointed a pistol at the driver’s head, and forcefully snatched BDT 10,500 in cash along with a mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Swift Operational Response and Recoveries

Following direct orders from Narsingdi District Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah-Al-Farooq, an operational unit led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Yusuf launched an immediate crackdown. The team successfully traced and apprehended two key suspects:

• Shuvo (22): Son of the late Mijan, hailing from the Panchbhag Srinagar area of Madhabdi.

• Fahim (26): Son of Halim Miah, from the same locality.

Based on confessions obtained from the arrestees, police recovered a foreign-made pistol, three rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, and BDT 2,000 of the stolen cash.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

Authorities confirmed that two separate cases under the Arms Act and relevant robbery statutes have been registered at Madhabdi Police Station. Police records indicate that both detainees have prior criminal charges pending against them. A dedicated police team is currently conducting drives to apprehend the third fleeing gang member.
