Aon plc, a leading global professional services and risk management firm, has officially named Stephen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Indonesia. The strategic appointment, effective August 3, 2026, remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and marks a significant operational move to strengthen the firm’s executive leadership across Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
Operating out of Aon’s primary hub in Jakarta, Stephen will take full operational charge of driving the company’s diversified portfolio throughout the Indonesian market. His mandate encompasses the strategic direction and daily execution across the firm’s core operational pillars: Commercial Risk, Health, Talent, and Wealth solutions. In this key leadership capacity, he is responsible for formulating and executing Aon’s broader expansion strategy in Indonesia, elevating client service delivery standards, and cultivating a high-performing, collaborative corporate culture.
Stephen steps into the role backed by more than two decades of extensive international experience within the insurance, underwriting, and pricing sectors. His career spans diverse global and regional markets, including key leadership positions across Asia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Aon, Stephen served as the Chief Underwriting Officer for Zurich in Indonesia. During his tenure at Zurich, he successfully managed a broad array of traditional property and casualty, health, benefits, and travel insurance portfolios, while also overseeing takaful (Islamic insurance) offerings and significantly bolstering technical capabilities across the organization.
In his new position, Stephen will directly report to Jane Drummond, Chief Commercial Officer for Asia Pacific and interim head of Southeast Asia at Aon. Additionally, he will formally join the Aon Southeast Asia leadership team, contributing directly to the firm’s regional growth framework.
Commenting on the executive move, Jane Drummond expressed strong confidence in Stephen’s proven track record, highlighting his deep regional market insight, strong leadership acumen, and sharp focus on client outcomes. She noted that his background will prove instrumental in helping businesses across Indonesia navigate an increasingly dynamic and complex risk landscape. Expressing enthusiasm for his appointment, Stephen emphasized that Indonesia presents immense economic opportunities, driven by rising demand for integrated risk management, talent strategy, and workforce solutions.
