The deceased have been identified as 13-year-old Rudra and 14-year-old Jholok. Rudra was the son of Dalim, a resident of the Jamurki area, whilst Jholok was the son of Ponchu from the Safipur neighbourhood in Gazipur. According to family members, Jholok was visiting Rudra’s family home for a brief holiday, being the brother-in-law of Rudra’s paternal uncle.

Eyewitnesses and local police officers reported that the two boys had visited the nearby Jamurki market during the afternoon to make several small purchases. Upon completing their shopping, they attempted to cross the highway on their way back home. As they stepped onto the road, an unidentified Dhaka-bound passenger bus travelling at high speed knocked them down and ran them over. Both teenagers died on the spot from severe head and bodily trauma before any emergency medical assistance could be arranged.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, speeding away from the scene immediately following the collision. The sudden, violent incident sparked profound shock and distress amongst local shopkeepers and passers-by, who gathered at the crash site as news of the tragedy spread across the neighbourhood.

Distraught relatives arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and transported the bodies back to their residence. Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Mirzapur Police Station, Abdullah Al Mamun, stated that officers visited the spot to gather preliminary details. He added that relatives took charge of the deceased before police arrived at the location, and investigations are currently under way to trace the hit-and-run vehicle using surveillance coverage along the highway corridor.
