NRB Bank and MetLife Bangladesh Renew Strategic Partnership Agreement

NRB Bank PLC has extended its long-standing collaboration with MetLife Bangladesh for an eighth consecutive year, aiming to enhance insurance safety nets for its credit cardholders. The corporate renewal agreement was formally executed at the bank’s head office, according to an official statement released on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
Under the terms of the renewed agreement, eligible NRB Bank credit cardholders will remain covered by comprehensive insurance policies designed to cushion financial hardship. In the event of a cardholder’s unforeseen death or permanent disability, the policy provides coverage to settle outstanding credit card balances, subject to standard terms and conditions. Additionally, cardholders can access an In-Hospital Cash Benefit for each period of hospitalisation, offering crucial financial assistance towards medical bills, treatment, and post-care recovery.
The agreement was signed by Tareq Reaz Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NRB Bank PLC, alongside Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, in the presence of senior executives from both institutions.
Speaking on the milestone, Tareq Reaz Khan noted that bank clients increasingly expect financial products that provide tangible value and peace of mind in their daily lives. He emphasised that sustaining this eighth-year partnership ensures cardholders and their families receive essential protection during challenging circumstances.
Echoing these views, Ala Ahmad highlighted the vital role financial safety nets play during unexpected medical emergencies. He affirmed that MetLife’s ongoing cooperation with NRB Bank reinforces a shared commitment to alleviating customer anxieties through reliable insurance products.
NRB Bank continues to build its reputation as a leading institution in card issuance and digital financial services across Bangladesh. Serving customers through an integrated network of branch banking, internet services, agent banking, and mobile platforms, the lender caters to a growing demographic seeking modern, technology-driven solutions.
MetLife Bangladesh has been operating in the country since 1952, building a robust network that currently serves over one million individual policyholders and more than 900 corporate entities. The insurer maintains an industry-leading position in claims settlement within the domestic life insurance market. In 2025, MetLife Bangladesh settled BDT 2,853 crore in claims with an exceptional 98 per cent settlement ratio, followed by BDT 1,384 crore paid out during the first six months of 2026—representing the highest figures recorded in the sector for those periods.
