A severe road traffic accident involving three motorcycles resulted in the deaths of two young men and left four others seriously injured in the Sherpur upazila of Bogra district. The multi-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 20:30 BST on Thursday, 28 May 2026, along the Sherpur–Kazipur regional highway in the Safaljani area of Shubhgacha union.
The emergency services and local police confirmed the identities of the deceased. The first victim, Abu Raihan, aged 18, was the son of Harunur Rashid, residing in the Ulipur neighbourhood of Sherpur town; he was an active student at the Bogra Polytechnic Institute. The second casualty was identified as Tamim Hossain, also aged 18, the son of Nannu Mia—an expatriate worker—from Phultala village in the Sherua Bottola area of the upazila. Hossain was a first-year college student enrolled in the eleventh grade at Sherwood International School and College.
According to accounts provided by two eyewitnesses, the regional highway was unusually clear of standard commercial traffic due to the nationwide Eid-ul-Adha holiday celebrations. This absence of congestion allowed the operators of the motorcycles to navigate the thoroughfare at high velocities.
At approximately 20:30 BST, two speeding motorcycles travelling from Dhunat toward Sherpur collided head-on with a third motorcycle advancing from the opposite direction. The physical force of the impact completely mangled all three vehicles, throwing all six riders onto the tarmac and causing grave trauma.
A coordinated rescue effort by local residents and emergency responders transported the casualties to the nearest medical facility, the Sherpur Upazila Health Complex. Upon arrival, the attending medical officers examined Abu Raihan and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The five remaining survivors—identified from hospital admission manifests as Mohammad Rajan, Mohammad Siam, Mohammad Hasan, and Mohammad Samir—received initial stabilization procedures at the upazila clinic. “The condition of the five patients required specialized surgical intervention,” a clinic administrator confirmed. “Arrangements were made to transfer them immediately to the district teaching hospital via emergency transport.”
During the vehicular transfer to the secondary hospital, the condition of Tamim Hossain deteriorated significantly; he succumbed to his injuries before arriving at the SZRMC admission ward. The remaining four wounded individuals were successfully admitted to the hospital, where they remain under continuous medical supervision.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Bikash Chakraborty of the Sherpur Police Station confirmed that a police team secured the crash site immediately after the incident.
