Two of Bollywood’s most recognisable voices of the 1990s, Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu, are set to sing together again after a gap of 21 years. The veteran playback singers have joined forces for ‘Suniyo Zara’, a song from the upcoming Sunny Deol-starrer ‘Soorya: Ant Se Aarambh Tak’. Their reunion has generated considerable interest among music lovers, particularly those who grew up listening to the pair’s memorable Hindi film songs.
According to a report by Indian publication Moneycontrol, ‘Suniyo Zara’ is being released as the film’s first song. Alongside Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu, singer Anupam Amod has also lent his voice to the track. The song features Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan and other members of the film’s cast.
The collaboration offers listeners an opportunity to hear two celebrated singers together once more, reviving memories of an era when melody-driven Hindi film music enjoyed widespread popularity. Their return as a duo is also expected to attract audiences who continue to appreciate the distinctive vocal styles that helped define Bollywood music during the 1990s.
A Reunion After ‘No Entry’
Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu last worked together on the song ‘Kahan Ho Tum’ from the 2005 Bollywood film ‘No Entry’. Since then, the singers have not been heard together on another song, making ‘Suniyo Zara’ a notable reunion after more than two decades.
The new collaboration also marks their return to a Sunny Deol film together after approximately 24 years. The two singers previously performed for the actor in ‘Karz: The Burden of Truth’, which was released in 2002.
Their renewed association therefore carries significance beyond the passage of time. It brings together two established playback singers and an actor whose long career has included a range of action dramas and other mainstream Hindi films. For fans of both the singers and Sunny Deol, the song offers a connection with an earlier period of Bollywood entertainment.
A Song Built Around Friendship
‘Suniyo Zara’ centres on friendship, companionship and the bonds that bring people together. Its emotional musical arrangement is intended to appeal to listeners who enjoy traditional Hindi film melodies, while also reaching younger audiences who may be discovering the singers’ work for the first time.
The music has been composed by Rahi, who is associated with Pritam’s music production company, JAM8. The lyrics have been written by Priya Saraiya. With Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Anupam Amod sharing vocal duties, the track brings together three singers for a musical presentation built around its themes of friendship and togetherness.
The song is being released under the banner of Zee Music Company. According to the report, its teaser was scheduled for release on 26 October, with the full track expected to arrive on 27 October. The publication schedule places the song at the centre of the film’s initial musical promotion.
Music Adds to Interest in Sunny Deol’s Film
‘Soorya: Ant Se Aarambh Tak’ is directed by M. Padmakumar. The crime-and-mystery film stars Sunny Deol alongside Ravi Kishan and other performers.
The return of Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu as a singing duo has emerged as one of the notable talking points surrounding the project. Their voices remain closely associated with Hindi film music from the 1990s and the early 2000s, a period remembered by many listeners for its prominent playback singers and enduring melodic compositions.
Although Bollywood music has evolved considerably over the years, songs from that era continue to attract listeners across generations. The reunion on ‘Suniyo Zara’ draws on that lasting affection without relying solely on nostalgia, bringing two familiar voices into a new film project.
Whether the song becomes a lasting favourite will depend on its reception after release. For now, the collaboration has given fans of Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu a fresh reason to look forward to the soundtrack of Sunny Deol’s upcoming film.
