A fire triggered by a gas line leakage in a residential building in Uttarkhan, Uttara, on the outskirts of Dhaka left three members of a family severely injured with burn wounds on Saturday morning.
The victims have been identified as Hasna Hena (40), Akhi (25), and Ali Hossain (50). According to available information, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 am while cooking activities were underway in the household. A gas leakage is believed to have accumulated and subsequently ignited, causing flames to spread rapidly inside the room.
Following the incident, the injured individuals were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka. They were admitted shortly after arrival for emergency treatment. A neighbour, Suman Afshari, who assisted in transporting the victims to hospital, stated that Hasna Hena had gone to cook in the morning when the fire broke out due to the gas leakage, resulting in all three individuals sustaining burn injuries.
Medical authorities at the burn institute confirmed the admission of the three patients. Residential surgeon Dr Shaon Bin Rahman reported details of their condition upon arrival, noting varying degrees of burn severity among the victims. He stated that Ali Hossain suffered burns over the majority of his body, while Hasna Hena and Akhi also sustained significant injuries and were undergoing treatment.
Hospital records indicate that two of the patients are in critical condition, with one suffering extensive burn injuries covering the entire body. All three individuals have been placed under medical supervision in the burn unit.

The focus at present remains on the medical treatment and stabilisation of the injured individuals at the burn institute.
