Youth Found Dead in Field

A tragic incident in Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur has left the local community in shock after the body of a young man, identified as Mostafizur Rahman, was recovered from a crop field on Wednesday morning (06 May).

According to police and local sources, residents of the South Shrirampur Rajbari area discovered the body lying in an agricultural field situated in front of a local residence. Upon noticing the body, they immediately informed the authorities. Officers from Ramganj Police Station later arrived at the scene and recovered the remains for further examination.

The deceased, Mostafizur Rahman, was the younger son of the late Bacchu Miah of the same locality. He had been employed at a garment factory in Dhaka, working to support his family. Following the death of his father during the last Ramadan period, he returned to his village and had reportedly been staying there for the past two months.

Preliminary observations at the scene revealed that an electrical wire was found wrapped around the victim’s body. This has led investigators to suspect that electrocution may have been the cause of death, although officials have stressed that the exact circumstances remain unclear pending a post-mortem examination.

Family members stated that Mostafizur left home shortly before the Fajr prayer call. His wife, Ayesha Akhter Mitu, said that they later learned through local residents that his body had been found in a nearby field. The sudden and unexplained nature of his death has raised concern among relatives and neighbours.

Police officials confirmed that the body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy. They further added that only the medical examination report will determine the precise cause of death, and investigations are ongoing to establish whether the incident was accidental or involved any other circumstances.

Meanwhile, the incident has cast a pall of grief over the locality, with residents expressing deep sorrow over the untimely death of a young man who had recently returned home after working in the capital.
