A formal criminal case has been registered against a local Jubo Dal (youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party) leader, identified as Al-Amin Chhial, following allegations of the forced assault of a housewife in the Lakshmipur district of Bangladesh. The commencement of the official criminal proceedings was formally confirmed on Monday afternoon by Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Hanif, the designated investigating officer attached to the Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station.
The legal action was initiated late on Sunday night, 30 May, when the female victim personally arrived at the municipal police headquarters to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) detailing the incident. According to corresponding law enforcement records, the accused perpetrator, Al-Amin, is the son of Abu Chhial, residing in the Uttar Charramani village under the jurisdiction of the Charramani Mohan Union within Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila. He is recognized within regional political circles as an active leader of the union-level Jubo Dal organization.
According to the official text of the case statement filed with the police, the victim’s husband is a migrant laborer who currently resides and works abroad. Internal investigators note that the accused, Al-Amin, systematically utilized the husband’s prolonged domestic absence as an operational window to subject the housewife to persistent, unwanted advances and illicit proposals over an extended period.
When the victim explicitly rejected these initial overtures, the accused escalated his behavior to systematic intimidation. Al-Amin routinely threw bricks and stones onto the corrugated tin roof of her residence during the night to disturb and terrify the occupants. Due to the mounting psychological distress and continuous security concerns caused by these actions, the housewife was compelled to abandon her marital residence nine months ago to seek temporary refuge at her paternal home.
She subsequently returned to her husband’s family home during the recent holy month of Ramadan. Following her return, the accused immediately resumed his pattern of intimidation and repeatedly delivered illicit proposals, all of which were consistently rejected by the victim.
The situation culminated during the late-night hours of Thursday, 28 May. According to the statements recorded in the FIR, the victim stepped outside her residential structure to respond to the call of nature. Al-Amin, who had intentionally positioned himself in ambush near the property, allegedly launched a surprise physical attack from behind. He manually obstructed her mouth to prevent her from raising a public alarm and forcibly dragged her into an adjacent betel nut orchard.
The legal deposition further states that the perpetrator produced a sharp knife, pressed it against the victim’s throat to completely neutralize her physical resistance, and proceeded to assault her. Following the completion of the offense, the accused explicitly threatened the victim, stating that if she disclosed the incident to her relatives or initiated any form of litigation with law enforcement, he would murder her only son.
Speaking on behalf of the affected family, the victim’s brother issued a public demand to the local administration, calling for immediate judicial intervention and requesting that the perpetrator face the maximum statutory punishment available under national law.
Following the filing of the case, multiple attempts were made by independent reporters to contact Al-Amin Chhial via his mobile telephone number to record his response to the criminal allegations; however, the calls went completely unanswered. SI Abu Hanif confirmed that the police department’s investigation is actively progressing. While no arrests have been successfully executed to date, specialized police units are conducting coordinated raids to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
